The average Brit consumes 140 litres of water each day. This may surprise many of you who are reading this. Our water supply is often taken for granted, for both drinking and washing. So perhaps it shouldn't be a surprise that water consumption is so high.
Bathrooms are the area in our home that uses the most water. Here are 5 ways we can reduce water consumption and improve the environment.
1. Choose a water-saving tub
An average bath measuring 1700x700mm can hold 190 litres. It is possible to have luxurious baths that use less water but still maintain the relaxing benefits of a long soak.
A bath must be luxurious. Thus offering a variety of luxury, water-saving whirlpool bathtubs to create a spa-like atmosphere at home is essential. While a bath is more efficient than a shower, it doesn't mean that you have to use as much water. Many brands offer eco-whirlpool baths. These baths combine design and resources to make baths that use as little as 31% less water. This will help you save water over the long term.
Two simple features help eco-baths reduce water consumption
- Although they are smaller than traditional eco-baths, they look much better.
- These baths have a deeper angle at the back. This helps reduce water consumption, but with almost no visible difference in appearance
2. Install a thermostatic rain shower
The thermostatic shower valve regulates the temperature of your shower water. These valves prevent extreme fluctuations in water temperature so that you don't get burned by hot water or a severe shock from freezing water. The thermostat will shut off if it detects an issue with the hot or cold flow to prevent you from getting soaked in hot or icy water.
Although thermostatic showers are safe, they can use less water. The temperature is automatically adjusted, so you don't waste your time trying to adjust the water temperature. This not only saves water but also increases the experience of the shower. No more worrying about the temperature of the water when you turn on the shower.
3. Switch to a single lever mixer tap
A single-lever mixer tap, similar to a thermostatic shower tap, allows you to select the right hot/cold water mix for your basin or bath. A mixer tap lets you control water flow with one tap rather than two. This saves water and improves the quality of your bathroom experience.
Many brands offer a variety of bath filler valves, also known as taps. They can be used in bathrooms with different interior designs. They offer a wide range of high-quality products, including stylish taps that can be placed on top of tubs and single taps mounted on walls.
4. You can also add a dual flush toilet
You've likely used a dual flush toilet in your home at one time or another. A dual flush toilet is most commonly identified by its location on the top of the cistern. It has a double button which delivers different amounts depending on which one of them you press.
The liquid waste button on one-half of the button will dispense less water than a full flush. The other half of this button is for solid waste and will dispense full water.
Due to their water-saving abilities, dual flush toilets have become more common. They are an excellent way to use the proper amount of water to dispose of our waste products.
5. Repair any leaks in the toilet
Like any other component used frequently, toilets can leak if the connection between the toilet and the pipework becomes loose or degraded. This is most common in older toilets that have not been updated for a while.
A leaking toilet can waste precious water and cause serious structural damage to your home if it isn't fixed. Leaking water can cause severe damage and expensive repairs. It's worth calling a professional plumber right away if there is any water seeping from your toilet.
